  • Connor Joe 1B | PIT

Pirates' Connor Joe: Stuck in lengthy slump

Joe went 0-for-3 with a strikeout Saturday against the Mets.

Joe has been limited exclusively to a short-side platoon role at first base since Rowdy Tellez has gotten improved results at the plate, though he's also split time with Edward Olivares and Joshua Palacios in right field. Joe will likely continue to lose plate appearances so long as he remains cold at the dish, as he's hit only .176 with one home run, five RBI and seven runs scored since June 1 and across 74 at-bats.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Runs bases with no issues

Manager Rob Thomson said Saturday that Harper (hamstring) had a "good day" running the bases and will run the bases again Sunday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Harper has been dealing with a low-grade hamstring strain since June 27 but has been progressing well enough to potentially return prior to the All-Star break. The 31-year-old was participating in on-field drills at 70-75 percent intensity earlier this week and is slated to run the bases again Sunday. Harper becomes eligible to come off the injured list Tuesday.

  • Jake Bauers 1B | MIL

Brewers' Jake Bauers: Idle against LHP

Bauers is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

Bauers will be on the bench for a third consecutive game, though Saturday's contest is the first of that span against a southpaw. Rhys Hoskins will play first base and bat sixth.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | SF

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Sitting vs. southpaw Saturday

Wade is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Guardians.

Wade went 0-for-3 with one run, one walk and two strikeouts in Friday's 4-2 win over Cleveland. He'll retreat to the bench Saturday against southpaw Logan Allen, with Tyler Fitzgerald starting at first base and batting sixth.

  • David Villar 1B | SF

Giants' David Villar: Sent down to Triple-A

The Giants optioned Villar to Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday.

Villar went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in his last start Wednesday against Atlanta. The 27-year-old infielder appeared in just six games for the Giants since being recalled June 22, going 5-for-17 with one home run, four RBI and five strikeouts. San Francisco recalled left-hander Kolton Ingram from Double-A Richmond in a corresponding move.

  • Josh Bell 1B | MIA

Marlins' Josh Bell: Absent from lineup Saturday

Bell is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.

Saturday marks Bell's first day off since June 24. He went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in the series opener Friday, and since his last day off, Bell has gone 4-for-39 with two RBI and 11 strikeouts. Jonah Bride will serve as the designated hitter Saturday and bat sixth against White Sox southpaw Garrett Crochet.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | PIT

Pirates' Rowdy Tellez: Idle vs. southpaw Saturday

Tellez is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.

The lefty-hitting Tellez will begin Saturday's contest on the bench with southpaw David Peterson taking the mound for the Mets. Tellez opened the four-game series strong Friday, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI. Connor Joe will start at first base Saturday and bat in the cleanup spot.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | MIL

Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Slugs grand slam

Hoskins went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Friday's 8-5 loss to the Dodgers.

Hoskins opened July in an 0-for-13 skid before the grand slam in his second at-bat Friday. The blast gave the Brewers a 5-2 lead, but they mustered just one hit after that. Hoskins is slashing .218/.311/.402 with 12 homers, 42 RBI, 27 runs scored and two stolen bases over 270 plate appearances this season.

  • Michael Toglia 1B | COL

Rockies' Michael Toglia: Pops 10th homer

Toglia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Friday against the Royals.

Toglia has been in the midst of a slump, as he entered Friday's game having collected only three hits across 19 at-bats in his last six matchups. He ended that with a solo home run in the third inning, his 10th long ball of the campaign. Toglia has shown an all-or-nothing approach at the plate this season, as he has a 32.3 percent strikeout rate paired with a .245 ISO in 158 plate appearances.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | PIT

Pirates' Rowdy Tellez: Two homers, five RBI in win

Tellez went 2-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI in a 14-2 win over the Mets on Friday.

Tellez got the Pirates on the board with a solo homer in the fourth inning and added a grand slam in the eighth. The first baseman has been on fire, homering five times with four multi-hit efforts over his past 10 games. He has just two hits against left-handed pitching this year but is hitting a solid .262 with seven home runs and 28 RBI over 202 plate appearances against righties.
