  • Michael Busch 1B | CHC

Cubs' Michael Busch: Sits against left-hander

Busch is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Phillies.

Southpaw Cristopher Sanchez will be toeing the rubber for the Phillies, so the left-handed hitting Busch will grab a seat. Patrick Wisdom will handle first base and also the second spot in the Cubs' batting order.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Three-run shot in loss

Freeman went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and two walks in Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Freeman put the Dodgers ahead with a three-run blast in the bottom of the first and proceeded to reach base four times in the contest in a losing effort. It was the first baseman's 13th long ball of the season and the fourth in his last 15 games. Over that latter stretch he's batting .327 (18-for-55) with 14 RBI and 10 runs scored. Freeman has also recorded multiple hits in back-to-back games and in three of his last four.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | CHW

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Day off Thursday

Vaughn is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Cleveland.

It appears to be a routine day off for Vaughn. The White Sox are giving Gavin Sheets a start at first base while Vaughn gets some rest.

  • Ben Rice 1B | NYY

Yankees' Ben Rice: Elevated to leadoff spot

Rice will start at first base and bat leadoff in Thursday's game versus the Reds.

The Yankees have dropped the struggling Anthony Volpe down to the No. 6 spot in the batting order and Rice will receive the first opportunity in Volpe's old slot. Rice is slashing .270/.378/.351 with a 6:7 K:BB in his first 14 contests in the majors. Certainly, it would be a major boost for his fantasy prospects if he can manage to stick at the top of the Yankees' lineup.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | MIN

Twins' Carlos Santana: Receiving Thursday off

Santana is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers.

Santana started the previous 13 games but will head to the bench Thursday after he posted a .288/.351/.442 slash line with five doubles, two RBI and six runs during that span. Jose Miranda will move to first base while Trevor Larnach serves as the designated hitter, opening up left field for Manuel Margot against Detroit righty Kenta Maeda.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | PIT

Pirates' Rowdy Tellez: Comes up big Wednesday

Tellez went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Cardinals.

The 29-year-old slugger took Giovanny Gallegos deep in the seventh inning, giving the Pirates a 3-1 lead that got erased in the top of the eighth. Tellez has come alive at the plate, racking up three homers and three multi-hit performances in his last seven games, and since the beginning of June he's slashing .361/.403/.597 over 77 plate appearances with four home runs and 15 RBI.

  • Triston Casas 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Triston Casas: Two weeks out from rehab assignment

Casas (ribs) is likely two weeks away from beginning a rehab assignment, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

The two-week estimate for the beginning of a rehab assignment pushes Casas' targeted return date to later in July. He's progressed to taking dry swings in the batting cage, having done so June 26 and again July 3. He's also tracked pitches against the Trajekt machine, which mimics MLB pitchers. The next big step for Casas will be hitting the ball in on-field batting practice.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Loving Dodger Stadium

Walker went 4-for-5 with a walk, a double, two home runs, four RBI and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 12-4 win over the Dodgers.

Walker, who homered in the first game of the series Tuesday, gave Arizona the lead with a two-run homer in the fourth inning then finished off the Dodgers with a two-run shot in the ninth. The first baseman has five home runs in Dodger Stadium this season and 17 in 41 career games at Chavez Ravine. Walker leads he Diamondbacks with 20 homers and 59 RBI.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Logs second steal

Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, one stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Rangers.

Cronenworth notched his first multi-hit effort since June 21 and his first steal since May 6 with a strong performance Wednesday. The infielder hit .250 with eight extra-base hits and 15 RBI over 27 contests in June. For the year, he's at a .260/.325/.437 slash line, 12 home runs, two steals, 53 RBI and 45 runs scored across 85 games. He's played fairly well, but he may slip out of an everyday role once Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) returns from the injured list later in July. Bogaerts had played primarily at second base prior to his injury, though Cronenworth or Luis Arraez could ultimately share first base and designated hitter to keep both of their bats in the lineup.

  • Michael Busch 1B | CHC

Cubs' Michael Busch: Collects two hits in loss

Busch went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Phillies.

Busch continues his strong first season with the Cubs, and he's now recorded a hit in eight of his last 10 games. Overall, the first baseman is slashing .262/.359/.448. Busch is also batting a solid .303 against lefties, though the Cubs have been generally limiting his exposure to southpaws. Even if Busch sees some days off here and there due to matchups, he's still looking like a decent fantasy option the rest of the year.
