Guardians' Josh Naylor: Sets career high in homers

Naylor went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Giants.

Naylor had some dry stretches in June, but he's turned it around by going 9-for-24 (.375) with six RBI over his last six games. The first baseman set a career high with his 21st homer of the year. He's added 64 RBI, 50 runs scored, three stolen bases, 16 doubles and a .246/.323/.505 slash line over 82 contests. He started the year hot before a shaky May and slightly better June, so he could still find another level in the second half.

Bell is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.

Saturday marks Bell's first day off since June 24. Hoskins is slashing .218/.311/.402 with 12 homers, 42 RBI, 27 runs scored and two stolen bases over 270 plate appearances this season.

  • Michael Toglia 1B | COL

Rockies' Michael Toglia: Pops 10th homer

Toglia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Friday against the Royals.

Toglia has been in the midst of a slump, as he entered Friday's game having collected only three hits across 19 at-bats in his last six matchups. He ended that with a solo home run in the third inning, his 10th long ball of the campaign. Toglia has shown an all-or-nothing approach at the plate this season, as he has a 32.3 percent strikeout rate paired with a .245 ISO in 158 plate appearances.

The first baseman has been on fire, homering five times with four multi-hit efforts over his past 10 games. He has just two hits against left-handed pitching this year but is hitting a solid .262 with seven home runs and 28 RBI over 202 plate appearances against righties.

  • Owen Miller 1B | MIL

Brewers' Owen Miller: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Brewers sent Miller outright to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Miller was dropped from Milwaukee's 40-man roster Monday but will remain with the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 27-year-old has slashed .257/.340/.377 through 200 plate appearances with the Sounds, and although he hasn't performed as well at the plate in the majors, his defensive versatility still gives him some value as an organizational depth piece.

  • Jake Bauers 1B | MIL

Brewers' Jake Bauers: Getting Friday off

Bauers isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Friday's game versus the Dodgers.

Rhys Hoskins will get the nod at first base while Bauers sits for the second game in a row Friday, opening up the DH spot for Christian Yelich while Jackson Chourio starts in left field.
