  • Tanner Scott RP | MIA

Marlins' Tanner Scott: Clean inning for save

Scott struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Saturday's 4-3 win over the White Sox.

Scott is on a 10-inning scoreless streak, during which he's maintained an 11:3 K:BB with five saves and a win. The closer continues to excel for the Marlins, though the team's poor performance has limited him to 13 saves this year. He's posted a 1.42 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 42:23 K:BB through 38 innings, though he's made progress to cut back on walks during his recent strong stretch.

  • Yonny Chirinos SP | MIA

    Marlins' Yonny Chirinos: Takes no-decision

Chirinos allowed three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out five over five innings in a no-decision versus the White Sox on Saturday.

Chirinos went five innings for the third time in his four starts this season. It was a fairly neutral performance for the right-hander, who is still looking for his first decision this season. He's maintained a 4.19 ERA with a 1.60 WHIP and 20:5 K:BB across 19.1 innings. Chirinos is projected to make his next start in Cincinnati -- a hitter-friendly park makes that a challenging matchup for the 30-year-old.

  • Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Records steal in loss

Fitzgerald went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Guardians.

Fitzgerald was impactful in the fifth inning with a two-run single. He then stole second, and that allowed Matt Chapman to steal home for another run, though the Giants' comeback effort ultimately fell short. Fitzgerald has been good in a limited role with a .276/.329/.395 slash line, one home run, seven steals, six RBI and 12 runs scored over 82 plate appearances. He got the start at first base versus southpaw Logan Allen on Saturday, though LaMonte Wade figures to play there regularly versus right-handers.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Giants' Matt Chapman: Steals home in loss

Chapman went 1-for-3 with two walks, one stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Guardians.

Tyler Fitzgerald stole second, and that gave Chapman enough time to dart home for the Giants' third run. Chapman has done it all over his last 15 games, batting .327 (18-for-55) with four home runs, three steals, 12 RBI and 14 runs scored in that span. Coming into 2024, he had stolen a total of 11 bases in his career, but he's already up to eight this season while adding 12 homers, 42 RBI, 58 runs scored and a .244/.328/.422 slash line through 87 games.

  • Giants' Kyle Harrison: Short start in return

Harrison (4-4) allowed four runs on four hits and four walks while striking out two over 3.1 innings to take the loss Saturday versus the Guardians.

Harrison allowed three runs in the first inning and then gave up a solo home run to Steven Kwan in the second. While Harrison managed to settle down after that, he was done for the day after 72 pitches (44 strikes), providing little respite for an overworked bullpen. The southpaw missed nearly three weeks with a right ankle sprain but didn't require a rehab assignment. Harrison has a 4.24 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 70:26 K:BB over 80.2 innings through 15 starts this year. He's projected for a home start versus the Twins next week.

  • Brandon Pfaadt SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Brandon Pfaadt: Diagnosed with bruised ankle

Pfaadt left Saturday's game against the Padres due to a left ankle contusion.

Pfaadt was hit in the ankle by a 98 mph comebacker in the fifth inning of his start and was immediately removed. The Diamondbacks have labeled the injury a bruised left ankle but expect Pfaadt to continue to be evaluated in the coming days. His next start is projected to come Thursday against Atlanta.

  • Brandon Pfaadt SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Brandon Pfaadt: Hit by comebacker, leaves game

Pfaadt was removed from Saturday's game against the Padres after being struck in the foot by a comebacker in the fifth inning, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Luis Arraez hit a 98 mph comebacker at Pfaadt that ended up hitting the 25-year-old pitcher in the left foot/ankle area. Pfaadt allowed one run on seven hits and no walks with six strikeouts over 4.1 innings prior to exiting. The Diamondbacks will likely send Pfaadt in for imaging and we should know more about his health postgame.

  • Lars Nootbaar RF | STL

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Returning from rehab assignment

Nootbaar (oblique) said he has finished his rehab assignment with Triple-A Springfield and is heading to St. Louis, Rob Rains of StLSportsPage.com reports. It's unclear if Nootbaar will join the Cardinals in Washington D.C. or wait for the team to return Tuesday.

Nootbaar had a postgame phone call with Cardinals manager Oli Marmol on Saturday to determine whether or not the outfielder was ready to return from his assignment, which resulted in Nootbaar being brought back from Springfield. The Cardinals are finishing up a road series with the Nationals on Monday before returning to St. Louis for a five-game homestand. However, it's unknown at this point if Nootbaar will join the team before they return home.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Getting breather Saturday

Moreno is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against San Diego.

Moreno had started in four straight games since being activated from the injured list and will yield to Jose Herrera behind the dish Saturday. Moreno owns a .714 OPS and a 15.3 percent K rate across 235 plate appearances this season.

  • Alek Thomas CF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Alek Thomas: On bench Saturday

Thomas is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres.

Thomas will get the day off Saturday after making back-to-back starts in center field. The 24-year-old is 2-for-12 at the plate with a grand slam and a stolen base since being activated from the IL on July 2. Jake McCarthy will bat sixth and play center field Saturday.
