Browns' Charlie Whitehurst: Throws touchdown in season debut

Whitehurst completed 14 of 24 passes for 182 yards with a touchdown and an interception against the Patriots on Sunday.

Whitehurst was called upon when Cody Kessler (chest) went down and was able hold his own against a tough New England defense. He was picked off once but lofted a perfect 17-yard touchdown pass to Connor Hamlett in the fourth quarter. It remains to be seen how serious Kessler's injury is, but should he have to sit in Week 6, Whitehurst will be under center once again versus the Titans.
