Anthony Ranaudo: To pursue opportunities in Korea
Ranaudo was released by the White Sox on Wednesday and will pursue opportunities in the Korean Baseball Organization.
This move makes sense for Ranaudo, as he had essentially exhausted his opportunities to pitch in a big league rotation, compiling a 7.01 ERA over 86 innings. He could go on to pitch multiple seasons in Korea or he could remake himself and attempt to get back into the big leagues in the coming years.

White Sox's Anthony Ranaudo: Rocked for nine runs Sunday
Ranaudo (1-1) got hammered for nine runs on 11 hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over 4,2 innings Sunday while striking out three, but was able to escape with a no-decision in a wild 13-11 extra-inning win over the Twins.
His ERA now sits at an astonishing 10.13 through 29.1 innings with a putrid 3.1 HR/9. Even if James Shields' back injury forces him to miss his next turn in the rotation, don't expect the White Sox to turn to Ranaudo if they can at all help it.

White Sox's Anthony Ranaudo: Serves up another homer in Tuesday's no-decision
Ranaudo pitched five innings, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two Tigers in Tuesday's no-decision.
As sad as it may be, Tuesday was Ranaudo's best performance in quite some time. He was clinging to a one-run lead before giving up yet another homer -- his seventh in 24.2 innings -- in his final frame of the night. The 26-year-old has yet to show any signs that would suggest owning him could help a fantasy team under any circumstance. Ranaudo is scheduled to make his next start Sunday in Minnesota.

White Sox's Anthony Ranaudo: Ripped for six runs by Mariners
Ranaudo gave up six runs on five hits and two walks over 5.1 innings against the Mariners on Thursday, but didn't factor into the decision.
Thank the offense for bailing him out, as Ranaudo didn't deserve to avoid a loss. He gave up another homer -- his sixth in 19.2 MLB innings this year -- and his four strikeouts represent a pitiful season high. All in all, he hasn't shown that he's ready for the majors, and with his 27th birthday just two weeks away, the big right-hander certainly can't be considered a prospect anymore.

White Sox's Anthony Ranaudo: Next start scheduled for Thursday
Ranaudo will take the hill for the White Sox Thursday against the Mariners, MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports.
It sounds like Miguel Gonzalez (groin) won't be ready to return in the Seattle series, leaving the door open for Ranaudo to get the starting nod Thursday, followed by Chris Sale and Jose Quintana. Ranaudo has already made two starts for the White Sox this season: a quality start against the Cubs, and a rougher outing against the Indians in which he allowed five earned runs in four innings. Felix Hernandez is currently lined up to oppose Ranaudo in this matchup, which puts a dent in his fantasy upside.

White Sox's Anthony Ranaudo: Next start TBD
Ranaudo is not scheduled to pitch Tuesday or Wednesday for the White Sox, MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports.
Carlos Rodon will start Tuesday with James Shields starting Wednesday against the Phillies. Merkin speculates that Ranaudo will take the ball in the four-game series against the Mariners later that week, although that has not been confirmed by the team. If Miguel Gonzalez (groin) is able to return from the DL in the minimum number of days, he could slot into the rotation next weekend and Ranaudo would not make another start in the foreseeable future.

Ranaudo will make another start in place of the injured Miguel Gonzalez, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Ranaudo had a bit of a clunker against the Indians on Wednesday (five runs on eight hits in just four innings), but there are no better options in the organization to fill out the rotation with Gonzalez out. Ranaudo should take the ball Tuesday against the Phillies.

Ranaudo (1-1) lasted just four innings, allowing five runs, eight hits and one walk while striking out two Wednesday against the Indians. He did not factor in the decision.
Entering his third spot start of the season, Ranaudo's biggest challenge at the major league level had been giving up the big fly. Wednesday, he stayed true to his scouting report, serving up two more homers, giving him a 3.4 HR/9 in five MLB games this season (three starts). Even with Miguel Gonzalez (groin) on the DL, Ranaudo's chance of remaining in the rotation may have been hit out of the park in this one, as the team might be inclined to give someone else a shot at filling in during Gonzalez's absence considering Ranaudo's struggles.

Ranaudo will be recalled to start Wednesday against the Indians.
The White Sox need a fifth starter with Miguel Gonzalez (groin) landing on the DL and will look to Ranaudo to take Wednesday's turn in the rotation. He posted a quality start in his debut with the White Sox at the end of July, giving up just two hits over 6.2 innings although both of those hits went for home runs. Ranaudo has given up 15 homers in 65 career innings at the major league level.

Ranaudo was optioned back to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday.
Ranaudo made his first major league start of the season Wednesday against the Cubs, allowing three earned runs on two hits to go with four walks over 6.2 innings of work. It was a fairly encouraging debut for the right-hander, but he'll head back to Charlotte with the White Sox in need of a roster spot for Chris Sale, who returns from a five-game suspension to start Thursday's series finale.

White Sox's Anthony Ranaudo: Notches quality start in loss to Cubs
Ranaudo (1-1), making his White Sox debut and first start of the season, allowed three runs on two hits (both homers) and four walks over 6.2 innings in Wednesday's loss to the Cubs. He struck out three.
Considering Ranaudo produced a 17.18 ERA and 2:8 K:BB over two relief appearances with Texas earlier this year, this start has to count as an enormous step forward even though he still had more walks than strikeouts. After all, he managed to no-hit the Cubs for 5.1 innings before giving up a Kris Bryant solo homer. He also helped his own cause by providing the South Siders' only run with a solo homer, the first of his career. White Sox manager Robin Ventura can take some blame for getting a little too cute here, leaving his inexperienced starter in to pitch the seventh, which resulted in a two-run homer that hurt his final line considerably. Nonetheless, Ranaudo certainly showed a little something here -- enough at least to make him the top call-up if the White Sox need to fill a rotation slot moving forward.

Jacob Turner was originally expected to get the nod Wednesday, but the Sox will instead go with Ranaudo, who was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday. Chris Sale will then take the hill on Thursday after serving his five-game suspension. Ranaudo has made 13 starts at Triple-A since coming over via trade in May, posting a 3.20 ERA and 1.04 WHIP across 78.2 innings. Considering he was added to the roster in place of Sale, Ranaudo will likely head back to Triple-A once Sale is reactivated.

Ranaudo was part of a deal that sent minor league pitcher Matt Ball to the Rangers. Ranaudo has been impressive in the minor leagues so far this season, holding a 2.03 ERA with 18 strikeouts in three starts this season. That hasn't transferred to the majors, though, as his 17.18 major league ERA shows. Following the transaction, the right-hander was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte, where he'll likely stay until the White Sox are in need of another arm.

Rangers' Anthony Ranaudo: Optioned to Round Rock
Ranaudo was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Ranaudo was recalled last week and appeared in two games during his stint with the Rangers, allowing seven earned runs and eight walks over just 3.2 innings. He'll head back down to Round Rock, where he holds a 2.02 ERA through 13.1 innings in 2016. In a corresponding move, Texas recalled Andrew Faulkner from Triple-A on Wednesday.

Ranaudo was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
The right-hander was previously scheduled to start for Round Rock on Friday after missing time in April with a groin issue, but the organization has decided instead that he'd be better utilized in a long-relief role at the major league level. Phil Klein was optioned down to make room for Ranaudo on the big league roster.

Rangers' Anthony Ranaudo: Lands on DL at Triple-A Round Rock
Ranaudo (groin) was placed on the 7-day DL at Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
With the ability to backdate Ranaudo's DL stint, the Rangers expect the right-hander to have enough time to make his scheduled start early next week. Ranaudo didn't go more than five innings in either of his first two starts, but allowed just two runs while posting a 13:3 K:BB in 9.1 total frames.
