  • Red Sox's Brayan Bello: Fans seven in eighth win

Bello (8-5) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing one run on seven hits and a walk over 6.2 innings in a 7-2 victory over the Marlins. He struck out seven.

The 25-year-old right-hander was given a breather by the Red Sox -- his last start came back on June 25, when he lasted only 2.1 innings and surrendered seven runs to the Blue Jays -- and it paid off, as Bello produced his fourth quality start of the season on 91 pitches (61 strikes). The seven Ks were his highest total since May 28, while Wednesday's outing was the first time he hadn't issues multiple free passes since May 17. Bello should resume his regular turn in the rotation after this performance, which lines him up to take the mound at home early next week against the A's.

  • Red Sox's Brayan Bello: Denied two-start week

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Bello won't start Sunday's game against the Padres as previously planned and will instead make his next start Wednesday in Miami, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Heading into the week, Bello had been lined up for two starts, but the Red Sox are opting to give him more time off before his next turn after he was blasted for seven earned runs on five hits and three walks over 2.1 innings in Tuesday's loss to the Blue Jays. According to Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald, Cora clarified that Bello isn't dealing with any sort of physical issue, and the right-hander's extra time off between starts is designed to help him better identify the source of the control problems that have become a recurring concern. Bello has issued multiple walks in seven straight starts and in all but one of his last 12 outings.

  • Red Sox's Brayan Bello: Early exit against Jays

Bello (7-5) took the loss Tuesday, coughing up seven runs on five hits and three walks over 2.1 innings as the Red Sox were downed 9-4 by the Blue Jays. He struck out two.

All seven runs crossed the plate in a disastrous third inning that saw Bello put the first six batters on base before ceding an RBI groundout to former teammate Justin Turner. The right-hander has been tagged for four runs or more in five of his last eight starts, and he carries a bloated 7.49 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 37:20 K:BB through 39.2 innings over that stretch. Bello will try to get back on track in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home this weekend against the Padres.

  • Red Sox's Brayan Bello: Strikes out six in win

Bello (7-4) earned the win against the Blue Jays on Wednesday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts over six innings.

Bello threw three scoreless innings before loading the bases in the fourth, but he managed to limit the damage to two runs and responded with two more scoreless frames before leaving the game with a 5-2 lead. This was Bello's first quality start since May 22 and his best performance in June, as he surrendered 14 total runs over his first three June outings. On the season, Bello owns a 4.83 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 62:26 K:BB and tentatively lines up for a rematch with the Blue Jays next week.
