Player Outlook
Josh Rojas played all over the field for the Diamondbacks in 2021-2022 while posting decent numbers, but he was unsuccessful in his 59 games with Arizona last summer with a .589 OPS, and was traded to Seattle in the deal for Paul Sewald. Once added to the Mariners roster, Rojas was in the lineup on a regular basis against right-handed pitchers, and he improved his slash to a respectable .272/.321/.400 while swiping six bases over 46 games. While it was encouraging to see the numbers increase upon joining his new club, the overall numbers were still ugly, and he ranked near the bottom of baseball in hard-hit percentage, expected slugging, barrel rate and expected weight on-base average. He also remained a liability against left-handed pitching with a .562 OPS, and it seems likely he won't be in the lineup in 2024 against southpaws very often. Rojas should have eligibility at second and third base and has a chance to carve out a regular role with the Mariners, but his fantasy value is severely limited as a player that isn't likely to contribute in many categories.

  • Mariners' Josh Rojas: Lone bright spot Tuesday

Rojas went 2-for-2 in a loss to the Orioles on Tuesday. Rojas' pair of singles were the only hits the Mariners' moribund offense was able to muster against Grayson Rodriguez and a trio of relievers. The veteran infielder has emerged from a recent 0-for-13, four-game skid in solid fashion, going 5-for-13 over the next four contests, albeit with just one extra-base hit (a double) in that span.

  • Mariners' Josh Rojas: Productive from bottom of order

Rojas went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in an extra-inning win over the Twins on Friday. Rojas was the only Mariner to garner multiple hits on a quiet night overall for Seattle's bats, and he contributed the first run of the game on a fifth-inning two-bagger that plated Mitch Haniger. Rojas now has four multi-hit efforts in the last 12 games, a stretch during which he's accumulated five extra-base hits despite a modest .250 average and .302 on-base percentage. Friday's production also snapped a rare skid for Rojas, who'd gone 0-for-14 over the previous four contests.

  • Mariners' Josh Rojas: Multi-hit effort in big win

Rojas went 2-for-5 with a run in a win over the Marlins on Saturday. Rojas got in on the fun of the Mariners' 15-hit barrage with his third multi-hit effort in the last seven games. The 29-year-old's bat has been running very hot over the entirety of that span, as evidenced by his .348 average and 1.009 OPS across 25 plate appearances. Rojas has been one of the steadier hitters in an inconsistent Seattle attack, offering a solid balance of pop (18 extra-base hits), speed (two triples, six stolen bases) and plate discipline (18.2 percent strikeout rate) across 67 games.

  • Mariners' Josh Rojas: Strong showing in win

Rojas went 2-for-3 with a home run, two walks, three RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Rangers. Rojas went 2-for-27 (.074) over his previous 10 games before breaking out of the slump in a big way. He hit a solo shot in the seventh inning and a two-run single in the eighth, providing the Mariners with enough of a cushion to survive the Rangers' late comeback. The homer was Rojas' first since April 28 and his fourth of the season to go with 15 RBI, 26 runs scored, six stolen bases and a .263/.336/.395 slash line over 61 contests. He continues to play in a strong-side platoon role at third base.

  • Mariners' Josh Rojas: Picks up steal in win

Rojas went 1-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 5-4 win over the Angels. Rojas has logged two steals over his last four games, giving him six thefts on the year. He was one of the Mariners' top hitters early in May, but he's gone a poor 6-for-47 (.128) over his last 15 contests, though three of the hits in that span have been doubles. Rojas' slump has him down to a .276/.345/.408 slash line with three home runs, 10 RBI and 17 runs scored across 168 plate appearances. He's on the strong side of a platoon at third base, with Dylan Moore often checking in at the hot corner versus southpaws.

  • Mariners' Josh Rojas: Nabs stolen base Tuesday

Rojas went 2-for-4 with an RBI double, a steal and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Astros. Rojas singled, stole second and scored off the bat of Julio Rodriguez in the first inning to give Seattle an early lead. The Mariners would then rally in the eighth, beginning with an RBI double from Rojas, who then came around to score once more thanks to Rodriguez. Tuesday was Rojas' first multi-hit game and first stolen base since May 10, while his late RBI knock was just his third since May 7. He's cooled off considerably this month, hitting .152 since May 11. For the year, Rojas is slashing .287/.350/.427 with 12 extra-base hits, 10 RBI, 16 runs, five steals and a 31:14 K:BB in 157 plate appearances.

  • Mariners' Josh Rojas: Notches stolen base Tuesday

Rojas went 1-for-1 with three walks, a steal and a run scored in Tuesday's win over Atlanta. Rojas reached base each time he stepped up to the plate and came around to score on a two-run homer by Jorge Polanco in the third. It was just the second time this season he's drawn multiple walks in a game. He's now led off in all four of his starts since J.P. Crawford (oblique) was placed on the IL last week and has managed two homers, four runs, a steal and a 4:1 BB:K in 16 plate appearances thus far. Crawford is expected to be sidelined for a little while longer and Rojas figures to remain atop of the order for the time being, at least against right-handed pitching.
