  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Remains white hot

Buxton went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and two additional runs scored Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Buxton posted a three-hit day with a dinger for the second time in three games. The centerfielder has now collected multiple hits in six of his last 16 starts, batting .355 (22-for-62) with nine extra-base hits including four homers, 14 RBI, 14 runs scored and three steals during that stretch.

  • Twins' Caleb Thielbar: Encouraging outing

Thielbar threw 1.1 scoreless innings without a strikeout or walk Thursday against Arizona.

It was a confidence building performance for Thielbar who had struggled in June. Thielbar had allowed nine runs (seven earned) and eight hits in his previous 3.2 innings over seven games. He had seemingly lost the ability to control his big breaking curve ball, but looked back to form Thursday. He's been limited to lower-leverage roles while he works out of his slump.

  • Twins' David Festa: Earns win in first career start

Festa (1-0) allowed five runs on seven hits and one walk over five innings to earn the win Thursday against the Diamondbacks. He struck out two.

Festa's first career start began about as well as he could have possibly imagined. By the time he hit the mound in the fourth inning, he had faced just one batter over the minimum and was staked to an 11-run lead. Following a solo homer to open the fourth, Festa struck out the next two but followed up by allowing five consecutive singles and three additional earned runs. Festa then allowed one more run in the fifth and coasted to the victory. Despite the general appearance of a rough outing due to the final stat line, a 3.77 ERA and 13.1 K/9 average over 59.2 minor league innings suggests that Festa, who closed out his outing by tossing 27 of 36 pitches for strikes against the final 12 batters he faced, was possibly more focused on pitching to contact as opposed to showing off his full arsenal. Festa should continue to earn additional starting opportunities for the Twins if they continue to have a rotational need. His next chance is slated to come in the middle of next week when the Twins welcome the Tigers to Minnesota.

  • Twins' Carlos Correa: Expecting to play Friday

Correa (wrist) anticipates that he will be in the lineup Friday against the Mariners, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Correa was hit in the wrist by a pitch Thursday in the seventh inning and immediately left the game. X-rays came back clean, and he told reporters after the game that he's confident he'll be in the lineup to start the Twins' series against Seattle on Friday. There has not been confirmation from the team the Correa will start.

  • Twins' Carlos Correa: X-rays negative

X-rays on Correa's right forearm/wrist came back negative after he was removed from Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Correa immediately made his way into the Twins' clubhouse after getting hit in the arm by a pitch during the seventh inning, but it appears he managed to escape the incident with minimal damage. The team has officially labeled his injury a right wrist contusion, and he is viewed as day-to-day. Should the Twins decide to give the 29-year-old a day or two to heal, Kyle Farmer and Willi Castro would be the next options at shortstop.

  • Twins' Carlos Correa: Exits after HBP

Correa was removed from Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks after taking a pitch off his right forearm, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Correa was visibly in a lot of pain after getting hit by a 94-mph sinker during the seventh inning, and he immediately made his way into the Twins' dugout while holding his right arm. The 29-year-old shortstop will certainly undergo imaging to determine the severity of his injury, and Minnesota should have an update in the near future.

  • Twins' Daniel Pena: Makes full-season debut

Single-A Fort Myers reinstated Pena (undisclosed) from its 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Pena made the first two appearances of his career in full-season ball Tuesday and Wednesday, going 0-for-4 with a pair of walks between those contests. The 19-year-old catcher -- who is regarded as one of the Twins' top lower-level prospects -- was cleared to join Fort Myers after he got on base at a .438 clip over nine rehab games in the rookie-level Florida Complex League.

  • Twins' Max Kepler: Resting against southpaw

Kepler is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Kepler will be joined on the bench by fellow left-handed hitter Trevor Larnach as the Twins add a pair of right-handed bats (Manuel Margot and Kyle Farmer) to the lineup to counter Diamondbacks southpaw Jordan Montgomery. Expect Kepler to rejoin the starting nine for the Twins' series opener in Seattle on Friday, when right-hander Logan Gilbert is scheduled to take the hill for the Mariners.

  • Twins' Austin Martin: Playing time drying up

Martin is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Martin had previously made starts in five consecutive games at three different positions from June 16 through June 21, but his playing time has since trended downward while the Twins have had all regular members of their lineup available. He'll be on the bench for the fourth time in five contests and will likely see limited opportunities moving forward, unless an injury opens up a path to a starting role.

  • Twins' David Festa: Added to roster ahead of debut

The Twins selected Festa's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday.

Festa is set to make his major-league debut with a road start Thursday versus the Diamondbacks. The right-hander has posted a 3.77 ERA and 87:24 K:BB over 59.2 innings during his time with St. Paul this season, reaching 10 punchouts in a game on three occasions. Festa is taking the rotation spot vacated by Chris Paddack (arm) and will have the opportunity to make additional starts beyond Thursday's debut if he pitches well.

  • Twins' Ronny Henriquez: Returns to Triple-A

The Twins optioned Henriquez to Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday.

Henriquez will head back to the minors as the Twins clear a spot on the 26-man active roster for right-hander David Festa, who was called up from St. Paul to start Thursday's game in Arizona. During his two-day stay with the Twins, Henriquez made one appearance, tossing a scoreless inning and striking out a batter in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

  • Twins' Jose Miranda: Another three hits, three RBI

Miranda went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI in Wednesday's win over the Diamondbacks while also drawing a walk.

Miranda kicked off the scoring for Minnesota with a three-run double in the second and went on to reach base four times in the contest -- which he's now done twice in his last three games. It marked the third time that the third baseman has driven in three runs and logged multiple hits over his last five contests, increasing his average to .329 in June. Miranda has also drawn a walk in four straight games.

  • Twins' Willi Castro: Double, homer in win

Castro went 2-for-4 with a double, a two-run home run and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over Arizona while also being hit by a pitch.

Castro was hit by a pitch in his second at-bat and responded with a leadoff double on the first pitch in his next trip to the plate, before then coming home on a double from Trevor Larnach. The utility man would add a two-run homer in the fifth to increase Minnesota's lead to seven runs, giving him two homers over his last five games. Castro has also hit safely in nine straight, posting multiple hits in five of those contests. He's batting .405 (15-for-37) over that stretch with eight RBI and nine runs scored.

  • Twins' Simeon Woods Richardson: Picks up third win

Woods Richardson (3-1) picked up the win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out four.

Woods Richardson allowed just one run over the first five innings but had to be relieved by Josh Staumont with one out in the sixth after allowing two of the first three batters to reach. It marked the right-hander's first win since May 28 against the Royals, though he's now walked multiple batters in three consecutive outings and in five of his last six overall. Woods Richardson has also given up multiple runs in each of his last three starts and now holds a 4.50 ERA in June to go along with a 26:10 K:BB.

  • Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Taking seat Wednesday

Jeffers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

The 27-year-old and Christian Vazquez have alternated starts over Minnesota's past 21 games, and that trend will continue after Jeffers went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer Tuesday.

  • Twins' David Festa: Set to make MLB debut Thursday

Festa will be called up from Triple-A St. Paul to make his major-league debut Thursday in Arizona, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.

Festa is assuming the rotation spot vacated by Chris Paddack, who went on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right arm fatigue. With Paddack slated to miss at least two turns through the rotation, Festa will have an opportunity to remain in the majors beyond Thursday's outing, although that could hinge on how his debut goes. Festa is among the minor-league leaders with 87 strikeouts this season and has also walked 24 while posting a 3.77 ERA over 59.2 innings.
