Court records show that Charlotte Hornets forward Jeff Taylor has been accused of assaulting his girlfriend and an East Lansing hotel employee, via the Lansing State Journal:

Prosecutors allege in court documents the Charlotte, North Carolina resident assaulted his girlfriend and a hotel employee at the East Lansing Marriott at University Place at the corner of Albert Street and M.A.C. Avenue. Taylor also allegedly caused between $200 and $1,000 in damage to hotel property.

Police responded about 1 a.m. Thursday to a domestic violence call at the hotel. Taylor was arrested at the scene, police said.

He is expected to be in court Oct. 8 for a pretrial hearing.

Taylor was charged with three misdemeanors: domestic violence, assault and battery, and malicious destruction of a building. He pleaded not guilty.

As reported on Thursday, Taylor's bail was set at $5,000. According to jail records, he was released Thursday night from Ingham County Jail.

This comes at a time when the conversation about domestic violence policies and punishments is at the forefront of the sports world. Both NBA commissioner Adam Silver and NBPA executive director Michele Roberts have talked about potentially learning from the NFL's mistakes.
