Biggie, give him one more chance.
The Brooklyn Nets are working out unrestricted free agent center Eddy Curry on Wednesday, according to Yahoo Sports. Free agent Hilton Armstrong will also reportedly work out for the Nets.
Curry, 29, continues to seek employment after playing just 24 combined games over the last four NBA seasons. During that time, he has famously battled weight problems, reportedly ballooning to as much as 350 pounds back in March 2011. He shed significant poundage, though, and eventually signed with the Miami Heat in December 2011.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra elected not to play Curry all that often, preferring instead to utilize small ball lineups. Curry made 14 appearances for Miami, including one start, and averaged 2.1 points and 0.9 rebounds in 5.9 minutes per game. He did not appear in any playoff games for the Heat during their run to the 2012 NBA title.
The Nets completed a massive overhaul of their roster this summer, re-signing Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries while trading for Joe Johnson. If signed, Curry would provide end-of-roster frontcourt depth behind Lopez, Humphries and free agent signing Reggie Evans.
Curry spent the beginning of the 2010-11 season with the Knicks before getting dumped on the Minnesota Timberwolves to help facilitate the trade that brought Carmelo Anthony to New York. He was then bought out of the remainder of his contract by the Timberwolves. He didn't appear in a single game during the 2010-11 season. Prior to his time in New York, Curry was a 2001 lottery pick by the Chicago Bulls, where he spent the first four years of his career.
