  • Jordan Mickey: From Miami to Russia

Mickey signed a one-year contract with BC Khimki of Russia on Friday.

Mickey's first three years in the NBA were underwhelming to the point where the Heat decided not to exercise his option for the 2018-19 season. The one-year nature of his contract with Khimki will allow for a return stateside in short order, although there's no guarantee he'll be given another shot to play in the NBA again.

  • Heat's Jordan Mickey: Team option declined

Mickey had his $1.6 million team option declined for the 2018-19 season, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.

After spending his first two seasons with the Celtics, Mickey joined the Heat for his third campaign, but went on to see action in just 23 games in a minor reserve role. He turned those appearances into averages of 4.0 points and 3.5 rebounds across 12.3 minutes, though he was clearly outside the rotation most nights and was well off the fantasy radar. With his option declined, Mickey will be an unrestricted free agent this summer and will have the ability to sign with any team he chooses. He should have a few willing suitors to bring him in for training camp, but there's no guarantee that Mickey ultimately makes a regular-season roster again.

  • Heat's Jordan Mickey: Starting at center Tuesday

Mickey will start at center for Tuesday's game against the Cavaliers.

The Heat are going to be without both Hassan Whiteside (hip) and Bam Adebayo (ankle) on Tuesday, which allows Mickey to pick up the spot start at center. Look for Mickey to see a significant uptick in minutes after being a DNP-CD the last two games, which could put him into consideration as a punt-play option for Tuesday's DFS slate. Fellow big man Kelly Olynyk is expected to help carry the load down low as well, so Mickey will have to split the extra playing time with him.

  • Heat's Jordan Mickey: Plays eight minutes in victory

Mickey compiled just four points (2-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt), but added two steals, one rebound, and one block in eight minutes during Saturday's 129-102 victory over the Wizards.

The Heat blew this game out of the water early and were able to get plenty of rest for their rotation guys. Mickey, who hasn't played much at all this season, was able to see the floor for eight minutes. He chipped in with three defensive stats in that time but did little else. He is not an option in any league and should be left well alone.

  • Heat's Jordan Mickey: Another DNP-Coach's Decision

Mickey was a healthy scratch during Monday's 95-88 win over the Mavericks.

Mickey has seen the court only once in January, this after appearing in 11 tilts during December and averaging 17.1 minutes per night. However, prior to that Mickey had only played in four of the 21 matchups through October and November. With Hassan Whiteside, Kelly Olynyk, and Bam Adebayo all ahead of Mickey on the center depth chart, he can be ignored in most leagues.

  • Heat's Jordan Mickey: Nears double-double in Monday's loss

Mickey managed nine points (4-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt), 10 rebounds, one assist, and one block in 24 minutes during Monday's 110-104 loss to the Hawks.

Mickey supplied a career high in rebounding while matching his career high in scoring, and he filled in well with fellow frontcourt players Hassan Whiteside (knee), Justice Winslow (knee), and James Johnson (ankle) sidelined. Whiteside and Johnson have already been ruled out of Wednesday's matchup versus the Celtics, and if Winslow remains out then Mickey might be called upon to play a decent load of minutes against his former team.

  • Heat's Jordan Mickey: Moves to bench Wednesday

Mickey will start on the bench for Wednesday's game against the Spurs, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Mickey started the Heat's previous two games in place of the injured Hassan Whiteside (knee), but after a pair of relatively ineffective performances, the team will give Bam Adebayo -- the 14th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft -- a chance to start. The two, along with Kelly Olynyk, will likely split Whiteside's minutes.

  • Heat's Jordan Mickey: Primed for another start

Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said he anticipated that Mickey would draw a second consecutive start at center Monday against the Hawks, Tom D'Angelo of The Palm Beach Post reports.

With regular starter Hassan Whiteside (knee) day-to-day and set to miss another contest, Spoelstra appears inclined to stick with Mickey on the top unit after the third-year player turned in a productive 14 minutes in Saturday's win over the Pacers, supplying eight points and six rebounds. Despite the solid showing, it's unlikely Mickey will see his playing time expand much further, as the 6-foot-8, 235-pounder is quite undersized for a center and probably isn't a viable option for extended stretches of action. Instead, Kelly Olynyk is expected to handle the bulk of the minutes at the position Monday and should make for a more appealing fantasy option than Mickey for the duration of Whiteside's absence. Once Whiteside is healthy again, Olynyk is expected to slide over to a starting role at power forward, with James Johnson returning to the bench.

  • Heat's Jordan Mickey: Starting in place of Whiteside

Mickey will get the start at center Saturday against the Pacers, Anthony Chiang of the Palm Beach Post reports.

With Hassan Whiteside out of action, the Heat will go with Mickey at the five, opting to shift Kelly Olynyk into a bench role. The LSU product was a DNP-CD in Wednesday's season-opening loss to Orlando, a game in which Whiteside played 36 minutes, while Olynyk started at power forward and played 21 minutes.

  • Heat's Jordan Mickey: Scores 12 points in Wednesday's win

Mickey had 12 points (5-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt), six rebounds, two steals, and one block in 19 minutes during Wednesday's 117-115 win over the Wizards.

Mickey might be the favorite to earn the minutes leftover at center behind Hassan Whiteside and Kelly Olynyk, as rookie Bam Adebayo may not be ready while Udonis Haslem is mostly a locker room leader at this point in his career. Nevertheless, that's not exactly a promising role when it comes to projecting fantasy value.

  • Heat's Jordan Mickey: Finalizing deal with Heat

Mickey is finalizing a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the Heat, Shams Charania of The Vertical reports.

Mickey was waived by the Celtics in mid-July due in large part to their offseason frontcourt acquisitions, as the 2015 second round pick never made had the opportunity to make his mark in Boston. He averaged just 1.5 points over 5.6 minutes per game last season, but will now have a second chance in Miami, where he'll likely continue to serve as a depth option.

  • Celtics' Jordan Mickey: Waived by Celtics

Mickey was waived by the Celtics on Thursday, Brian Robb of 985 The Sports Hub reports.

Entering the summer, Mickey was considered a long shot to make the final Celtics roster considering the team's offseason acquisitions up front. Mickey (6-8, 235) saw minimal playing time in his second professional season in 2016-17, averaging 1.5 points over 5.6 minutes, and his release will clear some cap space for the Celtics. He'll look to latch on with a team looking to add frontcourt depth, but he may be starting the year on a D-League team.

  • Celtics' Jordan Mickey: Recalled from D-League

Mickey was recalled from the D-League on Thursday.

Mickey was sent down to the D-League's Maine Red Claws on Sunday to compete in the D-League playoffs. Now with the Celtics, he'll provide bench depth, though he isn't likely to see much time unless an injury forces him into a larger role.

  • Celtics' Jordan Mickey: Assigned to D-League

Mickey was assigned Sunday to the D-League's Maine Red Claws.

The Red Claws are opening the D-League's Eastern Conference Finals against Raptors 905 on Sunday, so Mickey will head back down and operate as one of the team's top play-makers. He'll likely be recalled shortly after the game, but with the Celtics expected to shrink their rotation now that they're in the playoffs themselves, Mickey isn't expected to field any minutes unless an injury occurs higher up on the depth chart.

  • Celtics' Jordan Mickey: Recalled from D-League

Mickey was recalled from the D-League on Thursday.

Mickey was sent down to the Maine Red Claws earlier in the week to participate in the D-League playoffs, but he'll return to the Celtics to add depth as the postseason begins this weekend. Don't expect the LSU product to be a factor for Boston, barring multiple frontcourt injuries.

  • Celtics' Jordan Mickey: Assigned to D-League

Mickey was assigned to the D-League's Maine Red Claws on Sunday.

The Red Claws are still participating in the D-League playoffs, so Mickey will have an opportunity to see some extended run in a competitive setting, which he hasn't been getting with the Celtics. Mickey has been active for the Celtics' last three games, but has played a combined total of only six minutes.
