  • Grizzlies' Luke Kennard: Memphis declines option

The Grizzlies have declined Kennard's (knee) $14.8 million team option Saturday, but both sides are eager to strike a new deal in free agency, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Kennard put up a decent year, during which he averaged 11.0 points, 3.5 assists and 2.9 rebounds across 25.6 minutes in 39 regular-season games. The sharpshooter did what he does best in shooting 45.0 percent from three-point range in limited time due to injury. The Grizzlies will look to bring Kennard back and avoid the injury bug that plagued their club in the 2023-24 season.

  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Headed to Memphis

The Grizzlies selected Spencer with the No. 53 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Spencer was a five-year collegiate player who stepped into the spotlight after transferring to UConn for his final season in 2023-24. He helped lead the Huskies to their second straight national title, averaging 14.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.5 steals over 33.0 minutes per contest in 40 total appearances. If Spencer is able to carve out a career at the NBA level, it will likely be on the back of his elite shooting ability, as he converted 44 percent of his 5.6 three-point attempts per contest at UConn.

  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Headed to Memphis in Round 2

Wells was selected by the Grizzlies with the No. 39 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

After spending two years at Sonoma State (Division II), Wells transferred to Washington State last season and emerged as one of the best three-point shooters in the Pac 12. Wells knocked down 41.7 percent of his looks from beyond the arc, with more than half of his total field goal attempts coming from three-point range. Wells will likely spend much of his rookie season in the G League as a developmental piece.

  • Grizzlies' Zach Edey: Selected No. 9 by Grizzlies

Edey was selected with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft by Memphis.

Edey will provide frontcourt reinforcement for a Grizzlies team that has plenty of question marks outside of Jaren Jackson up front. At 7-foot-4, 300 pounds, Edey possesses the size and strength to be a high-level rebounder and interior defender. He also has surprisingly good touch for a player of his stature, making 71 percent of his attempts from the charity stripe last season at Purdue and hitting finesse shots in the paint with both hands. While his lack of foot speed will make him a target for opposing offenses in the pick-and-roll, Edey could be an excellent per-minute producer for fantasy purposes, whether that's alongside Jackson or off the bench.

  • Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Will be cleared in near future

Morant (shoulder) said Saturday he will be medically cleared for basketball activities in about two weeks, CBSSports.com reports.

Morant played only nine games last year due to a 25-game suspension and a major shoulder injury. He averaged 25.1 points, 8.1 assists, 5.6 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and 1.4 steals across 35.3 minutes. The All-Star had successful surgery on his right shoulder in mid-January and will be able to practice soon, meaning he should be 100 percent for next season's training camp. Morant hopes to take the Grizzlies back to the playoffs after a year ruined by injuries saw them finish with a 27-55 record.
