Baltimore fans welcome back Boller? (US Presswire)
Hey Ravens fans, remember how much you loved your experiences with Kyle Boller, from the time he was picked No. 19 overall in the draft to the time he accumulated a 20-22 record and a 45-to-44 touchdown-to-interception ratio in his five years with the team?

Well, you could be seeing a sequel to all that merriment in 2012.

That’s because NFL.com is reporting that Boller, along with former Steelers quarterback Dennis Dixon, will work out for the Ravens on Thursday.

Since leaving Baltimore, Boller has backed up Marc Bulger in St. Louis in 2009 (Boller started four games and lost them all) before journeying to Oakland, where he understudied Jason Campbell and, in 2011, Carson Palmer. And his stats leave something to be desired. In fact, his time at Baltimore went much, much better than in his final two stops (a scary thought for Baltimore fans, I’d wager).

Of course, there is potential good news.

As ESPN.com’s Jamison Hensley writes, “What many forget is how effective Boller was as a backup in 2006 behind Steve McNair. When McNair went down a couple of times that season, Boller played well and actually clinched the division that season with a win over Cleveland. He finished with a 104.0 quarterback rating, which was among the best for backups that season.”

So, knowing that, I don’t see how Baltimore fans could possibly be discouraged by this news.
