  • Canucks' Melvin Fernstrom: High-scoring winger joins Orcas

Fernstrom was the 93rd overall pick by the Canucks in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.

Fernstrom destroyed the Swedish U20 junior league this past season, posting 31 goals and 63 points in 45 games, good for third overall in league scoring. He also got into six scoreless contests with Orebro's SHL club. Fernstrom's greatest asset is his shot. He consistently beat goaltenders from distance, something that's rare among forwards at his age. The rest of Fernstrom's game is a work in progress, but the finishing ability is legitimate, and that makes the young Swede a quality long-term lottery ticket for Vancouver.

  • Canucks' Tyler Myers: Signs three-year deal

Myers inked a three-year, $9 million contract with the Canucks on Thursday.

Myers had five goals, 29 points, 77 PIM, 110 hits and 136 blocks in 77 regular-season contests with Vancouver in 2023-24. He's taking a significant pay cut compared to his previous seven-year, $38.5 million contract, but that's appropriate given that he'll turn 38 before this deal expires. Myers is likely to start the 2024-25 campaign on the second or third pairing.

  • Canucks' Dakota Joshua: Inks four-year deal

Joshua agreed to terms on a four-year, $13 million contract with Vancouver on Thursday.

Joshua is coming off a career year in which he set new personal bests in goals (18), assists (14) and shots (84) despite playing in just 63 regular-season games. If he can stay healthy in 2024-25, the 28-year-old winger should be capable of topping both the 20-goal and 40-point thresholds. Given his offensive upside, Joshua could be in the mix for power-play minutes during the campaign, a role that would further bolster his fantasy value.

  • Canucks' Teddy Blueger: Staying with Vancouver

Blueger signed a two-year, $3.6 million contract with the Canucks on Wednesday.

Blueger was set to be a free agent Monday, but instead he'll return to the Canucks on a new deal. The 29-year-old matched his career high with 28 points in 68 contests in 2023-24, playing primarily in a third-line role. Given Vancouver's ample center depth, that's likely where Blueger will slot for 2024-25, pending any other additions up front. He'll also feature prominently on the team's penalty kill.

  • Canucks' Cole McWard: Signs one-year deal

McWard inked a one-year, two-way contract with the Canucks on Thursday.

McWard had the option to become a restricted free agent in July after completing his entry-level deal. The 23-year-old had four goals and 17 points in 57 regular-season games with AHL Abbotsford in 2023-24. McWard has also provided a goal across six career contests with Vancouver.

  • Canucks' Linus Karlsson: Agrees to two-way deal

Karlsson signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Canucks on Thursday.

Karlsson was set to become a restricted free agent in July after completing his two-year, entry-level contract. He participated in four regular-season contests with Vancouver in 2023-24, recording no points, four shots, three hits and two blocks over that stretch. Karlsson also had 23 goals and 60 points across 60 regular-season outings with AHL Abbotsford.

  • Canucks' Mark Friedman: Signs one-year contract

Friedman inked a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Canucks on Wednesday.

Friedman was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer after completing his two-year, $1.55 million deal. He had an assist, 21 PIM, 33 hits and 35 blocks in 23 regular-season games with Vancouver in 2023-24. The 28-year-old blueliner might start the 2024-25 campaign as the Canucks' seventh defenseman.

  • Canucks' Filip Hronek: Lands eight-year, $58 million deal

Hronek signed an eight-year, $58 million contract with Vancouver on Tuesday.

Hronek registered five goals and a career-high 48 points in 81 regular-season contests with the Canucks in 2023-24. He also added 148 shots on net, 87 blocked shots and 104 hits. Hronek was a good fit alongside Quinn Hughes, which will likely be Vancouver's top pairing going into the 2024-25 campaign.

  • Canucks' Elias Lindholm: Generates helper Monday

Lindholm logged an assist, two shots on goal, five hits and two blocked shots in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Oilers in Game 7.

Lindholm did his part in the second round with three goals and four assists over seven games, but it wasn't enough to extend the Canucks' season. The center produced 22 points over 39 contests between the regular season and playoffs with Vancouver following his trade from Calgary. The 29-year-old is set for unrestricted free agency and figures to be one of the biggest names on the market July 1, assuming he doesn't re-up with the Canucks before then.

  • Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Deals assist in loss

Hughes notched an assist in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Oilers in Game 7.

Hughes produced five assists over seven second-round games. The 24-year-old defenseman concluded the postseason with 10 helpers, 21 shots on net, 14 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating across 13 appearances. Hughes' goal-scoring took a step forward with 17 tallies among his 92 points in the regular season, but he's always been more of a facilitator from the blue line. The Canucks' captain remains an integral part of the club's future heading into 2024-25.

  • Canucks' Filip Hronek: First playoff goal not enough

Hronek scored a goal on two shots and added three hits in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Oilers in Game 7.

Hronek earned his first career playoff tally late in the third period, but the Canucks couldn't follow it up with an equalizer. The 26-year-old defenseman was limited to two points, 13 shots on net, 25 hits, 15 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating over 13 postseason appearances in his first taste of playoff action. Hronek will be a restricted free agent this summer -- the only skater on the Canucks' roster with that status -- so getting him signed will likely be a top priority for general manager Patrik Allvin.

  • Canucks' Conor Garland: Nets goal in Game 7 loss

Garland scored a goal on three shots in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Oilers in Game 7.

Garland had three goals over seven games in the second round, but his contributions couldn't make up for the Canucks' overall unsteady offense. The winger posted five points, 24 shots on net and an even plus-minus rating over 13 playoff appearances. Garland enters 2024-25 with two years left on the five-year deal he signed in 2021, so it's likely he'll remain in a middle-six role for the Canucks going forward.

  • Canucks' Arturs Silovs: Loses Game 7

Silovs allowed three goals on 29 shots in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Oilers in Game 7.

Silovs took consecutive losses at the NHL level for the first time in his career, and it couldn't have come at a worse time for the Canucks. He allowed eight goals on 56 shots over Games 6 and 7. Overall, he went 5-5 in the playoffs, allowing 29 goals over 10 contests. It's not a particularly impressive body of work, but it's enough to think Silovs will enter 2024-25 as backup to Thatcher Demko (knee) if Casey DeSmith walks in free agency. Silovs will also need a new contract as a restricted free agent.

  • Canucks' Ilya Mikheyev: In action Monday

Mikheyev (undisclosed) will rejoin the lineup for Game 7 versus the Oilers on Monday, Thomas Drance of The Athletic reports.

Mikheyev missed the previous two contests with an apparent undisclosed injury. He has yet to register a point in 10 postseason contests. With Mikheyev back in action, Vasily Podkolzin is expected to serve as a healthy scratch.

  • Canucks' Brock Boeser: Won't return this postseason

Boeser will miss the remainder of the 2024 playoffs after a blood-clotting issue was found in his leg following Vancouver's Game 6 loss to Edmonton on Saturday, per Sportsnet.

Boeser will conclude the postseason with seven goals and 12 points in 12 appearances. He also set career highs during the 2023-24 regular season, producing 40 goals and 73 points over 81 outings. If Ilya Mikheyev (undisclosed) can't play in Monday's Game 7 matchup versus the Oilers, Sam Lafferty or Linus Karlsson could draw into the lineup to replace Boeser.

  • Canucks' Arturs Silovs: In goal Monday

Silovs will get the starting nod at home for Game 7 against Edmonton on Monday, Sportsnet reports.

Silovs underwhelmed in Game 6, allowing five goals on 27 shots (.815 save percentage). Overall, the 23-year-old netminder is 3-3 with a 3.47 GAA through the first six games of the second-round series versus the Oilers while conceding three or more goals in all but one of those contests.
